FIRST GHANA

THERE WAS A TRADE ROUTE IN WEST AFRICA FROM THE SAHARA DESERT IN THE NORTH TO GOLD MINES IN THE SOUTH.

BETWEEN THE TWO WAS GHANA.

WHEN TRADERS FROM THE DESERT BROUGHT SALT TO SELL FOR THE GOLD IN THE SOUTH THEY WOULD CROSS THROUGH GHANA. THE KING OF GHANA DECIDED TO TAX THE PEOPLE WHO CAME THROUGH TO TRADE.
THAT WAY GHANA GOT SALT AND GOLD. THEY BECAME VERY RICH.

BUT MUSLIMS ATTACKED GHANA BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO CONVERT TO ISLAM AND IT FELL APART.

NEXT IS MALI

MALI TOOK GHANA'S PLACE IN TAXING GOLD AND SALT. THERE KINGS WERE MUSLIM. ONE DAY THERE WAS A NEW KING IN MALI WHOSE NAME WAS MANSA MUSA.

MANSA MUSA TRAVELED TO MECCA AND HE GAVE AWAY LOTS OF GOLD ON HIS JOURNEY. HE CAME TO MECCA AND TOOK OFF HIS GOLD ROBES AND DRESSED IN A PLAIN WHITE ONE AND WASHED HIMSELF WITH WATER AND PRAYED AND HELPED THE POOR.

THEN HE HAD TO GO BACK TO MALI. BUT HE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH GOLD SO HE HAD TO BORROW GOLD TO GET BACK . BECAUSE OF HIS TRIP EVERYONE KNEW ABOUT MANSA MUSA AND MALI IN EUROPE.

LAST IS SONGHAI

AFTER MANSA MUSA DIED MALI FELL AND THE SONGHAI PEOPLE BECAME THE NEW EMPIRE. THEIR CAPITAL WAS TIMBUKTU WHICH STILL EXISTS IN THE COUNTRY OF MALI AND THERE KING WAS ASKIA . THEY WERE RICH BECAUSE THEY TOOK GHANA AND MALI'S PLACE. THE MOST EXPENSIVE THING IN THEIR KINGDOM WERE BOOKS BECAUSE THEY WERE SO RARE.

TRIBES FROM MOROCCO WANTED THE SALT AND GOLD SO THEY ATTACKED WITH GUNS AND CANNONS. THE SONGHAI ONLY HAD SPEARS AND SHIELDS AND THEY LOST.

THAT'S THE END OF THE AFRICAN EMPIRES IN THE MIDDLE AGES.

Pool Math

The other day I helped my dad measure our pool to see how heavy the water was.

First we figured out how big a circle it was and used a special number called PI to figure that out. We then saw how deep it was. Then we knew how much water was in it.

I couldn't weight the pool though so I took a bucket and figured out how much water was in the bucket with a calculator and the same math as the pool.

Then we figured out how many buckets of water were in the pool. Last I weighed the bucket and then we knew how heavy the pool water was. Pretty cool.

Marco Polo

We have been studying the life of Marco Polo. He went on a big journey to China which was ruled by the Mongols at that time. The road was hard and dangerous but his desire for knowledge and the world was strong and was able to endure many hardships on his way to China. He went with his dad and uncle but stayed in Chine while they returned back to Italy.

Spain took the WORLD CUP this year!!!

This is Brazil fighting the Netherlands and it is 1:0 for Brazil. Then it is 1:1 .


then it is half time: first half one to one

Brazil sleeps for 13 minutes and Netherlands eats for 14 seconds. Then Netherlands and Brazil both practice soccer for one minute. Then half time is up.

Then it is 2 to 1 for Brazil. Then the game ends. Brazil wins. But in real life the Netherlands beat Brazil 2 to 1.

Ghana is my favorite country in the World Cup. But when they fought Urugway
they lost. I am kind of sad.

Spain fought Netherlands in the finale that means who ever wins it gets the world cup I want Spain to win the world cup because they never got it but the Netherlands never got it either I like Spain because they are really good at soccer I want Spain to win and they did they beat the Netherlands 1 : 0 HERE IS A picture of Spain getting THE WORLD CUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
