Marie curie and radioactivity

Marie curie was a scientist who studied radioactivity . radioactivity is when a atom decays it let's of particles ( like protons and neutrons) and become a totally different atom . and she was interested in science since she was very young .she was not allowed to go to school in poland (poland was part of russia and the poles hated the Russians ) though . Because of her passion of science she went to Paris for college and became one of the first woman professors there. And married a French man called Pier Curie . The curies experimented with uranium and Marie
Came up with an idea that radioactivity was caused within the atom and that the atom was changing .Before her scientist's thought atoms did not change . She found out that substances with more uranium had stronger rays and substances with less uranium have weaker rays . She experimented with a mineral called thorin and see found the same results as with the uranium and called it radioactivity . She execrated uranium from a rock called pitchblende she discovered that the pitchblende had a stronger radioactivity then uranium she
execrated from the pitchblende . So with pier's help she found two new
Elements from the pitchblende called polonium Po 84 and radium Ra 88 . In 1903 The curies and Henri becquerel ( who found radioactivity but did not name it ) revived the noble prize in physics and in Marie got the noble prize for chemistry for finding the two elements . radioactivity was useful but also harmful Marie died of a blood
Disease caused by radioactivity .

NYC vacation trip

My family and I went to New York City on vacation. My mom drove that car through the night in the thick rain and fog. We left at 4:30 in the morning Newburyport and ended up in Manhattan by eight. After that we got into the most amazing apartment where we were staying. The views from the apartment were spectacular. It was a busy and polluted city I enjoyed watching the three musicals on Broadway. We saw newsies lion King and wicked. They were fun I think I liked most lion King. The costumes were so beautiful. It was nice to have a taxi all around the city so that we can not worry about being stuck in traffic or taking the subway. It rained quite a bit that day but the next day was nice and sunny. My brother night and my sister went to a big toy store called FAO. Here are some pictures from our trip.

The Lord or the Rings Trilogy

I have just finished reading the lord of the rings series.

You know that they are 8^th grader series and I’m a 4th grader, but I was able to understand it fine.

They were fun books and my favorite parts where when Sam attacked Shelob ,when Gimli  and Legolas were playing a game in which they trying to see who could kill the most orcs, when Gollum fell into the cracks of Mt. Doom, when Aragon came and helped Gondor to win the first battle, when everyone celebrated their victory over Saruon and when Eomer met Aragon on the battlefield .

I learned that if you’re in tough times you should never give up hope and that if you’re small and weak it doesn’t mean you can’t do amazing things. The hobbits in this book are a great example.

Here are some of my pictures from the series.

the house of Gondor includes Boromir prince of Gondor (top left), Farimir steward of Gondor (top right )and Denathor king of Gondor (bottom right)

here is Denathor(playMobil version) top left, Thedon  (playMobil version),top center,a soldier of  Gondor (top right),Thedon king of Rhohan (bottom left) and Eomer prince of Rhohan
