Justinian was a emperor of the Byzantine Empire. He grew up in a peasant home without much money. He wanted to go Constantinople to go to school and begged his parents to let him go.

Finally his parents let him go and he studied in the big city of Constantinople Greek, Latin, Math, Writing, Reading and memorizing. After he was done with his school he joined the army. People started to like him because he had good ideas and strategies in fighting. More and more people thought that he should be the emperor. He became the Emperor and ruled justly that is why he is called the JUST emperor. Justinian made made a laws for his people. Here some of the laws he made:

If you find a jewel or something precious washed up on the sea shore you can take it for yourself.

You can go to the beach or the river and no one can tell you to get off it is my property.

While he was in the army as a soldier he saw a beautiful lady in the crowd and wanted to know her name and where did she come from. She was Theodora. Before she met him she was in the circus growing up with her dad, she was a clown, an actress and the she went to Constantinople . There she met some Christians and wanted to change her life and live more peacefully. She learned to sew thread and then she met Justinian. They fell in love and married.

When he became the emperor she became the Empress. Once when there were hard times and rebels attacking the palace Justinian wanted to run away and let the rebels win. But Theodora told him not to go and stay and defend his kingdom. For if he goes he will be given them the thrown freely without a fight. Justinian was afraid that they might lose and wanted to safe his life and his wife's life. But he listened to Theodora and stayed and fought the rebels. And after a long battle he won and was forever grateful to Theodora for helping him stay and protect his kingdom.
